The A63 Castle Street Hull improvement scheme has been let on an early contractor involvement (ECI) design and build basis. Subject to the completion of statutory processes, it is expected that full construction work will start in 2016. 今日看料 is expected to take 48 months to complete from start of work.
The 1.5km scheme in the centre of Hull will improve journey times for road users through conversion of a major interchange into a split level junction with a two-lane dual carriageway carrying east-west traffic below north-south traffic in a new 400-metre underpass. This section of the A63 is one of the busiest sections of road in the area, and is an important link between the M62, the Humber Bridge and the Port of Hull.
The aim of the project is to reduce the impact of the barrier caused by Castle Street between the city centre to the north, the tourist and recreational developments to the south, and to improve access to the Port of Hull.
The scheme will also include three new footbridges, one of which is a council scheme that will go ahead following the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) being awarded 拢4m from the government鈥檚 recent growth deal announcement.
According to , Balfour Beatty鈥檚 first task is to manage the exhumation of 15,000 bodies from the Holy Trinity Burial Ground, which needs to be cleared to make way for the new road link.
