The six-storey building will bring together research and training for the computer science, mathematics and statistics departments at the university鈥檚 main campus on the outskirts of Coventry.

The eighteen month build programme is expected to complete in time for opening at the beginning of the 2018 academic year.

Morgan Sindall鈥檚 area director for the Midlands, Richard Fielding, said: 鈥淭his is the latest in a series of buildings we are delivering for the principal higher education establishments in the region. We currently have over 15,000 square metres of teaching and accommodation space under construction in projects with a combined value of over 拢75m. We are naturally very pleased that the University of Warwick has entrusted us to deliver this key part of their campus redevelopment.鈥

Colin Sparrow, professor of mathematics and head of Warwick鈥檚 Mathematics Institute, said: 鈥淭his new facility will enable our three departments to grow and to work even more closely together. In particular, it will allow us to exploit Warwick鈥檚 position as one of the five UK universities recently chosen as partners in the creation of the Turing Institute, including interdisciplinary space for both research and teaching in data science. It will also allow us to bring our graduate training programmes closer together in a new Mathematical Sciences Graduate School.鈥
