Morgan Sindall to build £8m primary school

4 Apr 13 Morgan Sindall has been appointed by South Lanarkshire Council to build the new Forth Primary School for £8m.

The existing 70-year-old Forth Primary School building is to be demolished and replaced with a new 31,200 sq ft eight-classroom school building. It will include a public library, meeting room, cr猫che, community learning space and multi-use games area (MUGA).

Work is phased to allow the school鈥檚 185 pupils and 80 nursery children to remain on site throughout the project.聽聽

The new building is due for completion in spring 2014. The existing school will then be demolished and the new landscaping scheme completed by autumn 2014.

The contract was awarded under the council鈥檚 拢812m Primary Schools Modernisation Scheme which will rebuild all 129 of the authority鈥檚 primary schools by 2016.

Morgan Sindall is already working on other projects under the Primary Schools Modernisation Scheme including the 拢4.6m Carstairs Junction Primary School and 拢4.8m Carstairs Village Primary School.
