Morgan Sindall to make girls' school big enough for boys

12 Sep 13 Morgan Sindall has won a £15m contract to build a school in Liverpool.

St Hilda鈥檚 CE High School in Sefton Park is being rebuilt for Liverpool City Council on a neighbouring site on Croxteth Drive.

The new school will be larger than the existing building with intake rising from 129 to 150 pupils across each year group. Enlarging the school will allow it to start admitting boys as well as girls.

Work is due to start early in 2014 to construct the new building and sports facilities.

Morgan Sindall area director Barry Roberts said: 鈥淲e are delighted to have been appointed to this ambitious scheme to redevelop St Hilda鈥檚 CE High School. Increased pressure on local schools to provide high-quality education facilities for a growing population is a key issue in Merseyside and one we鈥檙e pleased to be playing a part in tackling.

鈥淢organ Sindall has great depth of experience in education construction and we鈥檙e well versed in delivering projects across the country on time and on budget. We鈥檙e looking forward to working with Liverpool City Council to deliver these education facilities for people in the local area.鈥

Other projects in the Liverpool area on which Morgan Sindall is working include a 拢19m contract with Maro Developments for the new Matalan headquarters at Knowsley Industrial Park and a 拢7m project to expand Liverpool Science Park.
