Norfolk rejects May Gurney’s appeal

12 Apr 13 Norfolk County Council has turned down an appeal from May Gurney over the loss of its highway maintenance contract.

Last week May Gurney against the council鈥檚 decision not to even let it bid for the contract, which is due to start in April 2014. But the council is refusing to reconsider.

Today the contractor, currently with Costain and Kier both seeking to buy it, announced: 鈥淢ay Gurney has been notified by Norfolk County Council that the company's formal appeal against the decision not to select it for the short list in relation to the re-bid of the council's highway and related services procurement contract A has been rejected.

鈥淲hilst disappointed, May Gurney remains fully committed to continuing to deliver a quality service under the terms of the current contract.鈥

The contract to manage Norfolk's 9.800km of roads is likely to be worth up to 拢65m a year.
