While the UK economy contracted by 0.5 percent for the last quarter of 2010, the Central London-based company was able to report sales of 拢4.7 million 鈥� an increase of 拢595,000.
The Central London-based company completed the quarter with a record 拢1.5 million sales in December 鈥� a record in the 32 year history of the business.
In contrast to a large proportion of the economy affected by the extreme weather conditions in December, Pimlico Plumbers bucked that trend with a 拢300,000 increase in sales on the same period in 2009 鈥� an increase of 25 percent.
The increase in sales in December was in part due to a record number of call outs. During the last four weeks of the year the company broke its daily call out record servicing 500 jobs on a single day (up from 440) and in the first week of December completed a record 2,017 jobs (up from 1,930).
The quarter four revenue figures also follow a recent announcement by the company that it is recruiting a further 50 tradespeople and support staff to its 200-strong workforce to aid its ongoing growth.
In the last three years, Pimlico Plumbers has seen an increase of just over 10 percent in revenues (拢13.9 million to 拢15 million) and 50 percent increase in employee numbers as the company has expanded its footprint across London and the range of property services it offers.
Pimlico Plumbers serves central and greater London and currently has more than 130 vans, trucks and motorbikes on the streets of the Capital.
With in excess of 150 highly-skilled plumbers, heating engineers, carpenters, builders and locksmiths, the company operates a large contact-centre in central London, which is operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Charlie Mullins, Managing Director of Pimlico Plumbers, said: 鈥淭he last quarter鈥檚 figures are testament to the planning and strengthening of our systems that allowed us to prepare and then react accordingly to the massive rise in jobs we received at the end of last year.
鈥淚t could be expected that any plumbing operation would make its money when a severe cold snap hits, but plenty of businesses didn鈥檛 in December, plumbers included, and managed to blame it on the weather.
鈥淥ur plumbers and heating engineers, plus our other tradespeople, battled hard to get to jobs and get them done while a decent percentage of the country shut up shop when the snow fell.
鈥淚t wasn't always easy, but we generally found a way round the snow and ice, and our guys and girls, who sometimes felt they were on a never ending shift in November and December, deserve real praise for their efforts.鈥�
Charlie added: 鈥淔igures like these also demonstrates there is life in the private sector. Even though UK growth was in the red for the last quarter and there were some notable failures on the High Street, there is some good news coming out of private businesses.
