Stepnell chosen to build new £3.9 million Chesham medical centre

19 Apr 11 今日看料 company Stepnell has been selected to design and build a pioneering new £3.9 million medical centre in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, for Buckinghamshire Primary Care Trust.

Working alongside specialist primary care centre developer Brackley Investments, Stepnell will create the new two-storey centre on a former brownfield site in Berkhamsted Road. The company will demolish existing industrial units to make way for the new 1,849m虏 building, which will house a variety of medical facilities, including a 120m虏 pharmacy.

The centre, known as Chesham Healthzone, will incorporate cutting-edge sustainable technology including high-performance windows with specially-designed louvred shutters to provide 鈥榥ight purging鈥, a technique which sees low temperature night air being used to naturally cool and ventilate buildings.

鈥淲e鈥檙e very pleased to have been chosen to create these vital new healthcare facilities which will make a real difference to the lives of people living in Chesham when they are complete,鈥 says Stepnell managing director Mark Wakeford. 鈥淲orking with Brackley Investments, we鈥檝e delivered around 60 new medicalcentresin the UK since 1996 and we鈥檙e delighted to be extending our partnership further.鈥

Richard Mills, director of strategy and planning for NHS Buckinghamshire, said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e pleased to be working with Brackley Investments and Stepnell to provide this state-of-the-art facility in Chesham. The completed Chesham Healthzone will be a positive development for the town and willenable residents to access a wider range of services, such as those supporting the management of long-term conditions, closer to home.鈥

Work on the project is due to be completed in autumn 2011.
